I used my TV for the amiga until just over a year ago. I have to say, that
after getting a monitor and SD/FF, that I don't know how I ever got by with
the telly. I then moved on and got a mediator with a Voodoo 3 graphics
card, and it was the best thing I ever did. It all depends on how much you
want to spend. First step, I'd agree is a monitor.
If you want to crank it up after that, then the next step is definately a
tower, and perhaps an internal CD-ROM drive for your IDE adapter - they're
dirt-cheap these days.
